A calm first visit to an off-leash park
The first trip to an off-leash park sets the tone for the visits after it. A little planning makes it a good one.
Pick a quiet time
Weekday mornings are usually calmer than weekend afternoons. Fewer dogs means fewer surprises while your dog learns the space.
Start on the lead
Walk the edge of the park together first. Let your dog sniff, watch and settle before you unclip.
Leave while it’s fun
Ten or fifteen minutes is plenty. Finishing on a good note makes the next visit easier.
